Operate In Remote Environments Assessment 17 May 2025 Today was the assessment for 20 Remote Area Firefighters (RAF) hopefuls. I was assessing three candidates who were well prepared. They swiftly navigated to the chosen waypoints in the Cuumbeun Nature Reserve, built their shelter and completed all the required tasks.As the sun set, we continued navigating in the dark until we reached our car. Hydraulics Course

Hydraulics Course 3 May 2025 I volunteered to help with the  hydraulics course this year. The format changed a bit from last year: we spent more time on the theory. We did have a demonstration on the effects of pressure, flow and friction which was quite an interesting exercise… Tomorrow will be a fully practical day but I can’t make it. Always happy to improve my skills in hydraulics!
