THE ENGINEERS TRACK
THE ENGINEERS TRACK
This was a spur-of-the-moment walk. Chris had never walked the Engineers Track so we obliged!
After some kerfuffling, we finally found the track. It had been 18 months since I had last been there and the vegetation was doing its thing: growing! The track was in good enough nick but towards the Grose River it was anything but as Mother Nature was reclaiming what was hers!
During the compulsory tea break we considered our options. 18 months ago we had walked along the Grose River and fought lawyer vines, ferns, etc. That was not appealing! We decided to go up the talus and contour as the vegetation looked civilised there.
100 m vertically later, we were at the cliff line which we mostly followed. Chris showed us his climbing grounds.
We eventually took the exit track and climbed back up on the plateau. Along the track we found two bottles with numbers on them attached to small branches. We have found a similar setup in remote bush. What are they for?
I don’t know if anyone has answered your question, but those bottles are navigation/rogaine markers.
Thanks: mystery solved!
