It is named after Kevin Browne, the first Ranger appointed to the National Park and a former Group Captain for the Blue Mountains Rural Fire Brigades. Presumably he was using it to access the Grose Valley. Off we went along Bald Head Ridge which never fails to deliver on views! First stop was Bennett Lookout, a large rocky outcrop overlooking the Grose Valley. After taking in […]

Chris had never walked the Engineers Track so we obliged! After some kerfuffling, we finally found the track. It had been 18 months since I had last been there and the vegetation was doing its thing: growing! The intention was to descend into the Grose Valley via Sharps Pass discovered by a member of the All Nations Bushwalkers Club. From a distance the cliffs in the Blue Mountains look impassable but I am always amazed at the number of passages that can get you through the cliffs. After reaching what I privately call Baldr Head, we headed through the pass. […]

The views on the Grose Valley are always great from both heads. The trees on the slopes are slowly recovering from the 2019-2020 bushfires. Small landslides dot the landscape. With time, the wounds will heal!
