Upper October Creek

There are a few small creeks in this area that form a J-shape when going through the sandstone. We went to explore such a creek. 

We followed a heavily-vegetated ridge for a while. Fortunately as soon as we left that ridge for another the vegetation became easier. It was not hot yet but I was sweating profusely, attracting all the flies of the Creation! These little monsters packed a bite!
We soon descended into the creek and followed It. To the exception of a few logjams, it was easy going. The first J shape was ordinary. As we walked upstream, the creek carried more sediments. The second J-shape through small cliffs was also ordinary. Soon we were at the confluence of two creeks at the end of a small valley covered with sedges.
The valley gave way to regular bush. At this point the creek was dry. We followed it to a small drip waterfall.
The exit was interesting and consisted of three small rock climbs. Fortunately there were enough footholds and handholds. Then it was uphill back to the cars. The creek was disappointing but it was nice to be outdoors!
