JUGGLERS CANYON
JUGGLERS CANYON
Kevin was in the mood for a canyon! I was in the mood for something dry: Jugglers Canyon fitted the bill!
We drove on Pilcher Point Fire Trail to find the gate closed at the airfield! A quick check on the National Parks website: cars were not welcome but humans were! So we walked to the head of the Jugglers track.
We were soon at the first (optional) abseil near the waterfall. Kevin indulged me and let me take some photographs of the waterfall. We continued on, bypassed two optional abseils and were soon at the start of the canyon proper. I did get wet legs from the waterfall… Once the ledge negotiated – successfully I might say – I took some more photographs while Kevin was setting up the next abseil.
As he was about to abseil, I saw with horror that the abseil would take us in the creek and waterfall! I pointed out the ledge on the left and asked him if he really wanted to get wet. Not particularly, said he! So we relocated to the ledge and completed the last two abseils and I remained dry!
Lunch was next, on a rocky platform on Greaves Creek. Then back to the track and up the Grand Canyon. A generator could be heard in the distance. As we approached the Pilcher Track, we saw tape and heard a crew working: was the exit closed? Nope! The 100-year track is being repaired and National Parks is doing an excellent job!
We were back at the car in no time! A beautiful and good fun day!
