A Hot And Muggy Day

A short walk along the cliffs overlooking the Grose Valley before the afternoon heat: I was in! As soon as we left the tree cover, things became hot and muggy quickly! There had been showers overnight and the humidity was horrendous: we could have been in Brisbane!

We made our way to the cliff edge for our morning tea and enjoyed the views on Blackheath Walls, Hanging Rock, Bald Head, Burra Korain Head and Asgard Head. Hat Hill Falls were visible! Meanwhile the flies were photobombing my shots…
We followed the cliff as best we could and scrambled down into a creek we had visited before. Everything was wet so we decided to traverse the creek in its upper reaches. I could hear water falling: I left the group and followed the sound: sure enough, there was a waterfall: modest by my standards, but a waterfall nonetheless!
I rejoined the group and we were soon in thick rainforest but fortunately there were some animal tracks to help. We found an exit by climbing up a wet gully and we were soon in a dryer environment! The flies were relentless and helped us reach the top of the ridge where the breeze offered some respite! After a lunch on the highest rock I could find, we walked back under the sun spurred. by the flies back to the cars.
I should have known better: walking in the heat on an exposed ridge is no fun!
