Scrubby, Slippery, Nightmarish!

Scrubby, Slippery, Nightmarish!

The gully looked promising on paper… but we got into snags straight away! The proposed entry was possible without a nuisance abseil and getting wet. So we followed the cliffline but could not find anything until the end of the creek… The descent was slippery and steep: we snugged against the cliff and eventually came level with a small creek.

It had looked scrubby from the top and it did not disappoint! We made our way upstream, climbing slipppery rocks, through vegetation… Eventually we found a large rock overlooking this vegetal mess and had a well-deseved tea!

The next goal was to check two creeks which may have waterfalls. The first one was boring: The second one made the trip worthwhile! Thank God!

Retracing our steps we came upon a sloped rockface that might provide an exit out of the gully. We managed, just! If it had been dry, it would have been easier… but I found the exercise nerve-racking! From then on, it was straightforward but still required climbing slippery vegetated slopes. The car was such a beautiful sight!
