2024 Vivid Sydney

2024 Vivid Sydney

A trip to the Big Smoke! My other half had work to do in Sydney so I went along.

Vivid Sydney was in full swing so I had a wander in Circular Quay. The last time I saw a Vivid festival was in 2012 and 2013: 2012 had been great, 2013 less so as the novelty had worn off!
Fast forward eleven years and many changes have happened! The installations have spilled to neighbouring suburbs. Many light projections on buildings and less small light installations, laser shows, corporation-funded installations (Sony, Samsung, etc), entry fees to some… and barriers everywhere!

In 2012 and 2013 you could not walk 30 metres without seeing something and interacting with the lights: it seems like the spontaneity is gone! And there are only so many animations I can watch on a building facade including the Opera House…
