In Wonderland

In Wonderland

I joined Tracy for a “Connecting to Nature” walk near the Hydro Majestic in Medlow Bath. A gentle track took us to the Sunbath and the views on the Megalong Valley.
I could imagine the bath filled with sand and ladies taking in the views and socialising  (there were different times allocated for men and women).
We continued to the top of the ladders: the views were magnificent. We could see the Farm in the Megalong Valley where fresh produce was brought up by flying fox to the Hydro Majestic.

We retraced our steps and took the Wonderland Track to Mark’s Tomb. There were many flowers along the track and we surprised many lizards. A rusty sign led us to Mark’s Tomb, a rock formation with several arches. Mark Foy, the owner of the Hydro Majestic, left instructions in his will for a tomb to be built so he could be buried here. After his death, the Equity Court released his children from the obligation to build the tomb as the estimated cost to build the tomb was more than the value of the estate, after bequests and other charges had been met.

We sat down and took the place in for an hour. I walked around the “tomb” taking photographs. We then continued along the Wonderland Track to the fire trail and back to the cars.
A slow enjoyable walk steeped in history.
