BURRAMOKO CANYON

BURRAMOKO CANYON

It was not a dark and stormy night but a very windy day! The side creek we visited on the Crayfish Creek walk was the object of our attention: since it is on Burramoko Ridge near Burramoko Head, it was called Burramoko Canyon!

We left the fire trail and soon had our first views of the canyon. Even down the slope the wind was murderous. There were no easy way down to the creek and the gusty wind made us back down.

We followed the creek from high up and visited a side creek. Someone had been there before as evidenced by cut branches! This was going to be a wet job so we retreated and continued along Crayfish Creek. As we approached the end of the ridge, the wind was ferocious. We went back to the fire trail. A short visit to Baltzer lookout completed the trip but we did not linger there…

Another visit probably in spring/summer!
