A Dip In The Nepean

I did not know there was a Breakfast Creek in Glenbrook: a walk in a creek made good sense on a forecasted hot day!

We left Euroka Clearing and followed a creek that did not inspire me: there was water but it was not flowing… I should come back after a downpour!
We reached an area that had been burnt and soon we were going down a steep gully to Breakfast Creek. This one was flowing. Unfortunately there were no waterfalls in this trip…

We followed the creek downstream, criss crossing it to find an easier path. There were a few lovely shallow pools in the shade. We decided to try to reach the Nepean River: we did not know what we would find especially vegetation-wise! There were a few vines and rainforest trees on the banks but nothing too difficult! As we approached the Nepean, the rocks got larger and the creek disappeared underground to re-appear further away. Soon we had our first sight of the green placid waters! And no thicket of lantana!

At the river, clothes were removed and everybody got into the water – I was the slowest one to immerse myself but the water turned out to be refreshing and pleasant… Piece and quiet were disturbed by a couple of jet skiers but they disappeared. We did have this small beach to ourselves!
An inquisitive duck came to visit us: he checked our bags but did not find anything! His cuteness did not melt our hearts!

Refreshed we retraced our steps: it was too hot to explore a new way out… A last dip in a pool before the climb! I was a wuss and did not go in: the feedback was that the water was very cold! We took our time: flowers were out and we were in the shade. We followed a fire trail back to Euroka making plans for the next creek and swim outing. A beautiful relaxing day with great company!
