Venus Tor To Mount Hay Creek

A repeat of a walk I did four years ago: it had been hot but I enjoyed it and wanted to do it again!

We started early and were soon on top of Mount Hay. The descent to the other side was straightforward and we were at the foothill of Venus Tor in notice. Rather then climbing the top, we followed the base of the cliffline with broken views on the explorers range: the views from the top are definitively better!

Last time we had visited Boorong Crags: this time, we bypassed  this boring feature and were soon on a ridge paralleling Round Hill Gully. Vegetation grows! I should have thought about it! It was not the worse bushbashing I had ever done but it was not particularly pleasant.
We got off the ridge and descended a rainforest slippery steep slope down to Mount Hay creek where a pool and numerous obstacles awaited us. I managed to keep my feet dry: a feat!

It was way past lunch time, but even a waterfall could not entice me! We climbed up and found a rocky platform and recuperated! Another bushbash back up and we were back to civilisation on the Hurley Heights fire trail. To the exception of some interesting rocky outcrops and a view of Mount Hay at the top, all we saw where regrowth!

Sometimes you should never do a thing that you like twice as the second time is disappointing: this was the case!
