Faulconbridge To Springwood

All on heritage-listed tracks, rainforest, creeks and waterfalls… John had a hand injury so this was perfect.

We started on Victory Track, recently re-opened thanks to the unrelenting efforts of the Springwood Bushwalking Club (I was not far off the mark with my comments last year), and followed a nice creek! Clarinda  Falls had water today: in my previous visits, it had been a trickle… We continued until we reached the National Park boundary at the intersection with Numentia creek.
After taking care of the stowaway that I had picked up – it was carefully deposited on a log for the next bushwalker to feed on – we continued along the rainforest to the intersection with the Sassafras Gully Track.
We passed numerous pools including the Lagoon and finally reached Perch Ponds where we had lunch.  The deep water holes in Glenbrook Creek are one of the habitats of the elusive Blue Mountain perch, a native freshwater fish, now endangered.

We left Glenbrook Creek and hiked up the trail along Magdala Creek: I had forgotten how beautiful this part of the world is! The two main attractions are Martins Falls and Magdala Falls, however the creek is a delight! I have not been in this part of the world for more than 20 years: a terrible omission!
We took the Picnic Point exit and walked across the streets back to the cars (next time, we will do a car shuffle!). Another visit with cameras and tripods is a must!
