Hanging On A Wire

Time to re-certify my Helicopter Insertion Techniques credentials aka HIT – this is my 13th time on a a Friday the 13th… This year I went to the National Parks helipad in Glenbrook.
After the briefing the three teams had a winch practice which included an hover entry and exit and then we had the winch assessment proper.

Everything went fine except when I realised during the assessment that the collar was twisted. After a frantic gesture to the crewie, I rectified the problem and I was up and back inside the cabin.
I am good for the next 14 months!
