A Peaceful Rainforest
A Peaceful Rainforest
Another creek exploration on a hot day! Not knowing what to expect, we carried the abseiling gear… A bit of navigation and a bit of contouring and we arrived to a spur overlooking a tributary. We walked across the compulsory swamp and looked for an access to the creek: there were none! We then searched for an anchor and found a lonely gum tree. Accessing the base of the tree took some effort but eventually we were down in the cool rainforest.
The tributary soon opened up and joined the creek of interest. For a while we walked in the sun but soon the cliffs closed in and we were back in the cool rainforest. I was looking for a waterfall but there were none to be had! This was nonetheless a pleasant walk.
We found a few possible exit routes but pushed on to an obvious way out of the cliffs near a convenient pool! A quick refreshing dip in the water and as usual, we tackled the compulsory steep climb out followed by a walk on a ridge back to the cars!
We only did half of the length of the creek: another visit is on the cards!
