A Scrubby Creek

A Scrubby Creek

I had unfinished business with this creek: 600 m of terra incognita which turned out to be nice!
The rain and storms of the last few years were not kind to the creek: logs, debris, impenetrable scrub made our progress slow!

We spent several minutes deciphering old graffiti dating back to 1949 on an overhang. As we continued on the scrub gave way to a forest of coachwoods. We soon arrived to a waterfall and a compulsory swim – in my previous visits, I had managed to avoid both!

Then it was terra incognita: the creek closed in for about 100 m until we arrived to a substantial slippery drop. We abseiled near a small waterfall and pool. The creek opened up again and we continued on in the rainforest visiting two overhangs, one of which had a hole in the shape of the Eye of Horus!

We exited through a pass that I had found previously and after the compulsory climb, we were back to civilisation!
