A Nice Creek

A Nice Creek

It was a grey day perfect for photography! Six brave souls set out along the bed of a creek. I dutifully gave a blood offering to the canyoning gods: I don’t think I can do a canyon without falling at least once!
Everything was slippery: the leaves, the ground, the rocks… but it was nice being there.

I had walked there before and had been stopped by a drop! So I was looking forward to discovering what was downstream!
The first two abseils could be avoided but when you carry the gear, you might as well use it! Things got more interesting on the third abseil: a free-fall abseil ending among palm-tree ferns.

We then had to traverse a small slippery ledge to the start of the last abseil. The creek closed in giving it the feel of a canyon! Everything was pristine, the moss and ferns were untouched!

More creek walking and soon we were at the exit that Marilyn wanted to try. What followed was 30 minutes that felt like an hour of climbing relentlessly while fighting the vegetation. We eventually made it to the top and back to the cars!

A creek, waterfalls, a canyon, lush rainforest: a hidden gem!
