Wandering In Henson Glen

Wandering In Henson Glen

We were on our way to Walford Wall when we hit metaphorically the first hurdle: the gate was closed! Another group was similarly baffled by the closure! A quick look on the Parks website confirmed that indeed Mount Hay Road was closed to vehicles!

Plan B was quickly devised: Henson Glen! I had wanted to check the 15m waterfall on the map for a long time! So off we went on Bruce’s Walk and eventually made our way down to Govetts Creek.
I had hopes but the waterfall turned out to be modest! A water drip rather than a waterfall!

There was a track going uphill – possibly made by an animal. Natural curiosity demanded that we followed it! The track petered out and we ended up in swampy country.
The aim became the spur with two jutting headlands overlooking Govetts Creek. After walking in tallĀ  vegetation we emerged near the east headland: unfortunately the views were partially obscured.

After elevenses, we walked towards the west headland enjoying the cliffs on the other side of Govetts Creek. Then it was uphill – is there any other way? – and a walk along Mont Hay Road back to the cars. An interesting area!
